School

School has started once again for me. Although I like to learn things I am ready for a much needy long break from school. I know your probably thinking that I just had the whole summer off, why could I possibly want more time off of school? Well heres the thing. I no longer know what I want to do with my life, so I have no idea what I should study at college and I have just started my sixteenth year of consectutive schooling. I know that learning is fun and that I need to do it now instead of taking the "year" off, which for most people the "year" off turns into many years off, but I just need a break. Everything just seems to be flying by, can't just one fun thing seem like it takes forever to get through?

But anyways, I am hoping to be able to find someone on campus who will be able to help me help myself figure out what field I want to get into. But for right now I am basically just going to my classes and taking it one day at a time. I can't do anything else for right now because of stress. Hopefully, my stress management class will teach me new and good techniques to manage my stress and help me lead a better stress "free" life.

Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day and like most towns and cities, my hometown has a parade and a small ceremony afterwards. This year like most years, I went down to the street corner and watched the parade with my Grandmother. Afterwards I knew I had to go get my sister in the center of town but I also wanted to go and listen to the ceremony. My Grandmother decided that she would like to go to seeing as she has never been to it before. It was bittersweet. Each Memorial Day they have the same few readings and the list of the veterans who have past on within the year. They read off and my Grandfathers name and there were some tears but afterwards there was plenty of happiness. My Grandmother had bought some flowers for my brother and one of my sisters. My sister and her friend took the flowers and walked back to the parking lot with them laughing and singing, making the day brighter. We have one more ceremony to go to at the cemetery and then a picnic at my Grandmothers house. I could not wait for such a good day to be underway.

I WON!!

Well not first place but I still placed (third). My Creative Writing class did a postcard writing challenge a couple months ago. We used the picture to create a story with and then wrote the story on the other side in very small writing so we could fit the whole thing (it had to be at a minimum 250 words). After we had to send them through the mail to our professor who gave them to a friend to decide who won. There were two first place winners and three third place winners. I can't believe that I got third. My writing has never been good enough for a prize. Anyways the semester is coming to an end and I have finals next week so I better get back to studying.

Once again.

I have been trying and meaning to get on and write, but good intentions never got me very far. I need action. Anyways the semester is coming to an end soon. I think I might change my major. I like the one that I have but the classes are boring. (See I only like a certain (very small) aspect about it.) I am thinking about becoming a psychology major. I have been taking psychology classes and I find them much more interesting then my major classes, so tomorrow I am going to go to the psychology department and ask what I need to do in order to change my major and to see if I am behind. I hope not but if I am it is what it is.

WOW!

I just realized that I have failed to write on my blog in such a long time. It has always been I will write on it today well today has finally come. I have been really busy lately with homework and family time. I really have got to figure out a good time to write on here.

I'm not to sure on where to start, so much has happened. The birthday dinner that my Grandmother and I made was really good and the cupcakes were delicious. When I have more time I will try to post pictures and the recipe for the cupcakes. 

Between then and yesterday I didn't do much besides normal daily life. Yesterday was Easter and my family got together later in the day. Yesterday I managed to hide 305 eggs. I would try to put them higher then the ground and they would stay there until the wind blew and then they would all fall down to the ground so I just left them there.

I would love to tell you more about yesterday, but I have class starting in a few minutes, so I should probably go get ready for it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Today is my Dad's birthday. Usually, my parents ask me what I want for my birthday dinner (oops, forgot to mention that it is also my birthday) and they cook it. Well, this year it took a different turn. I decided what I wanted for dinner, but my Grandmother is going to come over a little later and help me make dinner.  The only thing that I couldn't figure out was what to make for dessert. I was looking around and thought about making a two layered yellow with chocolate frosting and strawberries in the middle. But my Grandmother can't have strawberries and I wanted her to at least have the option of having dessert so I scratched that idea and keep looking. Then I came across the best sounding cupcake. Lemon-Raspberry Cupcakes. They look and sound so delicious. Well now that I have had some fun. Its time to make these cupcakes and clean the house up.

Spring Break

So close yet so far away.

I have three classes and one exam between me and Spring Break. Today I have one class and one exam, but I have decided not to go to class so I can study for my exam. You see the class I am going to skip is just an elective and the class I have the exam in is for my major. I need to know this information.

I DID IT!

Its official. I got the job at Nelson's. I start in March. I'm so excited. I won't have to go back to Bob's and I don't have to look for anything else. I am on top of things. Yay!!!

Crazy

This week has just been crazy. I can't wait til this weekend. I am so excited for it. You will never guess why so I am just going to tell you. I HAVE A JOB INTERVIEW. I applied to the campground down the street from my house. I have been saying that I am going to apply there every year, but I always ended up going back to Bob's. I am not going there this year because of what happened last year, so I really needed to find another job.

Creative Writing

I am going to try to keep you updated on what my creative writing assignments are, just in case you would like to try them also. Today, my professor gave us three assignments, right now I am going to share one with you and try to remember to share the other ones later.

Today we talked about the Willard Asylum, which was closed years ago and is now a rehab facility I believe. A man by the name of Jon Crispin has been working on the Willard Asylum Suitcase Documentation. Our assignment is to choose a picture (from Willard Suitcase Exhibit Online or Jon Crispin's Notebook or any other picture we find) of either a person or a suitcase and study it. Imagine that a complete stranger asked this person what he/she wants most in life. Use the persons voice to explain what they want and why. Consider the person's vocabulary, speech patterns, tone of voice, personal attitude, present state of mind, what they would want to share and what they are withholding. (Exercise from Point of View and Tone)

Feel free to try it out and comment with either your thoughts or your story. If you just want them for me to see please specify and I won't put them up for public viewing. I hope you have as much enjoyment on this project as I have already had.

FINALLY!!!!

You may be wondering why the title is in all capital letters and has more then one exclamation point at the end. Well keep reading and I will tell you.

Each semester I start off on track with homework but always end up behind schedule. So, I decided that this semester I would start ahead of schedule. Right now I have no homework because I finished it and the next assignment already. With this busy schedule, I have to make sure I stay ahead or at least on schedule. We will see how this goes.

I am trying

This semester has just started up again and we are on our fourth day of classes. I am really going to try to write on here every day, I know I have made that promise before, but I really really mean it this time. This is my online journal, that I share with each and everyone of you.

I had my first assignment in creative writing. It was really difficult. You might be thinking how on earth could creative writing be that difficult. Well let me fill you in. We had to take the name of someone we love and pretend that the letters in their name were the only letters in the alphabet. We then had to make up as many words from that name as we could, mind you we were able to use the letters how ever many times we wanted for each word. Then we had to write a story about 300 words using only the words that we made from the name. Try it. It didn't sound that hard when she explained. If you try it tell me how it went, leave a comment. I will enjoy reading about your thoughts on it.

This morning I tried to print it but the computer wasn't commuicating with the printer, so I had to send it to myself through an email. As I went to type my email address in, my Grandfather's email address popped up and memories of the emails that he would send me and the birthday cards came flooding into my mind. It made me smile. Things are getting better slowly and I think I am going to start reading his book again. I feel like it is the right time. He and I will never be able to talk about it, but that was the one thing he wanted me to do and I never did it, so even though it is too late, I am going to make an effort to read it.

Sorry

Once again I start another post with sorry. I know it has been awhile. I used to write these because my grandfather would always read them and remind me when I haven't posted in awhile. But now that he is gone, I don't get the reminders. I really miss him and the things he used to say. I will try to get into the habit of writing more often. We will see how that goes.
